Sunshine mimosa is a perennial groundcover native to Alachua County that spreads via rhizome. Flowers are puffy and purple. As a legume, it fixes nitrogen. It is also a larval host for the little sulphur butterfly. It likes full to partial sun and soil that is somewhat moist to neither wet nor extremely dry.
