Sensitive Partridge Pea, Sensitive Pea

Scientific name: Chamaecrista nictitans

Sensitive partridge pea does not get as tall as our other partridge pea, Chamaecrista fasciculata. C. nictitans only reaches to about one foot tall. It too likes sun and sandy soils, and gets yellow flowers. It is native throughout much of Florida, including Alachua County. C. nictitans leaves close when touched (like sunshine mimosa) whereas C. fasciculata leaves close at night.
