Rayless/stiff sunflower is a sunflower without the sun! It lacks petals but is nevertheless beloved by pollinators. It is native to Alachua County with thick, low foliage. The flower head sits atop a long, upright stem. It likes full sun and soil that is usually moist to soil that is neither wet nor extremely dry. Sources vary on whether it is an annual or perennial (plants may vary). Birds and mammals eat its seeds.
