Mockernut hickory is a deciduous tree native to much of North Florida, including Alachua County. It likes full to partial sun and somewhat moist soil to soil that experiences relatively long dry periods.
This plant is a larval host for the luna moth, hickory leafroller moth, royal walnut moth, and walnut sphinx moth.
The nuts are edible. (Same genus as pecans.)
