Joe pye weed is a native perennial found in the Panhandle and Central Florida. It dies back in the Winter and has purple flowers. It likes sun and soil that is usually moist (it can handle some flooding) to soil that is neither wet nor very dry. It can get tall!
It is a larval host for the clymene moth.
