Baldwin’s eryngo is a biennial to perennial that likes sun and moist to wet soils. Its small flowers are white to dark blue. The plant can form a thick mat. Its native range covers most of Florida, including Alachua County. Like many other members of its family (Apiaceae), it is a larval host for black swallowtail butterflies.
This plant was allegedly used to freshen breath with an aphrodisiac influence. "Kissing comfits" were a candy version.
